WIIFM is a common acronym used in business (

I use this approach when looking for professional development opportunities to make sure that the time and energy I'm spending will be worth more than the certificate I receive at the end. I try to be really conscious of what skill I'm trying to develop and anticipate how it may help grow my career.
This approach both provides me with a greater level of focus, but also adds a layer of pressure to make sure that I am using my time and often financial resources wisely. Lately I've been looking for a new opportunity and have been struggling to figure out what I want to learn. I think there are huge benefits to looking at training that applies to "other fields" even if it doesn't directly correlate with your line of work.
So, Connect Community - help me out! What are some ideas, concepts, and/or skills you've been wanting to further develop? Bonus points if you have a recommended training that goes along with it...
@Ike Nwankwo or
@Mandi Ginn-Franz any thoughts?
